(Phnom Penh): Interior Minister Sar Sokha ordered that a suspect linked to a deadly hit-and-run in Battambang Province be blacklisted from leaving the country, while authorities move to bring him to justice.

The directive, issued on Tuesday (Mar. 31), instructs the deputy police commissioner of Banteay Meanchey Province, the suspect’s father, to cooperate fully with authorities to ensure his son faces legal consequences.

According to Interior Ministry Spokesperson Ren Ratanak, the order follows the March 27 crash in Moung Ruessei district that killed six people, including an unborn child. He added that the General Department of Identification and the General Department of Immigration are actively enforcing travel restrictions on the suspect.

Minister Sar Sokha also instructed national and provincial police to prioritize the suspect’s arrest, expressing confidence that his father can help provide information on his whereabouts.
