(Phnom Penh): Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), praised Cambodia for its active role in advancing international cooperation and sustaining global peace.
The secretary general paid a courtesy call on Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Tuesday (Mar. 31) at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace.
According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Sarybay highlighted Cambodia’s strong cooperation with CICA, particularly in strengthening partnerships, enhancing security, and promoting peace.
Both sides also explored expanding collaboration in tourism, education, and trade to deepen bilateral and multilateral ties among CICA member states.
The CICA secretary general commended Cambodia’s leadership in positioning itself as a symbol of peace and increasing its engagement in regional and international platforms, including ASEAN and CICA.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored CICA's vital role in enhancing global security and peace, with particular focus on the Asian region.
He expressed deep appreciation for CICA's efforts to promote regional peace in Asia and globally, noting that the CICA platform has effectively connected countries across Asia, particularly in Southeast and Central Asia, to foster constructive cooperation.
