(Phnom Penh): The Royal Government of Cambodia announced major tax reductions on electrical equipment, solar systems, and electric vehicles under Sub-decree No. 52, effective 1 April 2026, according to the announcement seen by Fresh News on Sunday (Mar. 29).

Import duties on EV charging equipment, electric rice cookers, and solar lamps have been reduced from 7 per cent to 0 per cent.

Duties on EV motors, solar energy systems, lithium batteries, electric appliances, and passenger and cargo vehicles of HEV, PHEV, and EV types have been cut from 15 per cent to 0 per cent.

Import duties on PHEV family vehicles have been reduced from 35 per cent to 7 per cent, while EV family vehicles and selected electrical appliances have been lowered from 35 per cent to 0 per cent.

Meanwhile, export tax on bauxite has been reduced from 25 per cent to 10 per cent.

The new rates will take effect from 1 April 2026.

The Royal Government said the measures aim to ease living costs amid rising fuel and gas prices driven by ongoing Middle East conflicts.
