(Svay Rieng): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that state infrastructure will be steadily expanded, particularly clean water systems and road networks, to reach local communities and improve people’s living standards.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Mar. 26) during an inauguration of the Andong Tasey Water Treatment Plant in Svay Rieng province and a groundbreaking for the water supply infrastructure expansion in five provinces.
During the ceremony, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a free-market economy, alongside continued efforts in urban planning, village organization, and local development to further enhance citizens’ livelihoods.
Highlighting a collaborative approach to development, the prime minister stated that infrastructure improvements, whether in clean water or roads, will be pursued through partnerships between the state, the private sector, and local communities, depending on the context.
On the occasion, the prime minister also instructed the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation to strengthen coordination with relevant ministries, sub-national administrations, and stakeholders. The aim is to ensure the clean water sector is developed and managed with a focus on quality, efficiency, affordability, and responsiveness to the needs of local communities.
