(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) reaffirmed their enduring friendship during a reception marking the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) in Phnom Penh.

Held at Hotel Cambodiana on 23 March 2026, the event gathered senior officials and representatives from the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and FUNCINPEC.

DPRK Charge d’Affaires Pak Chol Jun highlighted that under Kim Jong Un’s leadership, the DPRK will continue advancing its self-reliance policy, with the Ninth Congress marking a new phase of national development.

He also underscored the countries’ decades-long ties, rooted in the legacy of Kim Il Sung and Norodom Sihanouk.

CPP representative Ek Sam Ol congratulated the Congress and Kim Jong Un’s re-election as WPK General Secretary, reaffirming confidence in continued bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Both sides expressed commitment to strengthening friendship and collaboration for mutual benefit, and for peace and stability regionally and globally.
