(South Korea): More than 3,000 Cambodian workers and community members gathered in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, South Korea, to celebrate Sangkran on 22 March 2026, marking one of the earliest Khmer New Year events held abroad.

The celebration brought together Cambodians living and working in the area, aiming to strengthen community bonds, share cultural pride, and promote Khmer traditions on the international stage ahead of the official New Year holiday.

The event also marked the arrival of the Year of the Horse in the Khmer calendar.

Organized with support from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Cambodian Embassy in South Korea, and the Cambodian Youth Association in Miryang, the event featured a rich program of activities. These included religious ceremonies, tributes to fallen heroes, traditional Khmer games, cultural dancing, and live entertainment.

More than 30 food stalls were also set up, offering a wide variety of traditional Cambodian dishes, adding to the festive atmosphere.
