(Phnom Penh): Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed Cambodia’s strong support for expanding ties with Slovakia, highlighting economy, trade, and investment as key pillars of bilateral cooperation beyond diplomacy and politics.
The statement was made during a courtesy call by Alexander Micovčin, the newly appointed Slovak Ambassador to Cambodia, who also presented his credentials at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Thursday morning (Mar. 19).
According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo welcomed the new ambassador and expressed confidence that his diplomatic mission would further strengthen ties between the two countries. He also highlighted the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to deepen cooperation and celebrate the longstanding partnership.
On the occasion, Ambassador Micovčin expressed gratitude to Samdech Techo for the opportunity to present his credentials and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the already positive relations between Cambodia and Slovakia. He also underscored his intention to promote stronger cooperation in trade, economic development, business, and investment during his tenure.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasised the importance of economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Cambodia and Slovakia beyond diplomacy and politics. He also praised the continued collaboration between the foreign ministries of both countries, noting their continued dialogue and mutual support in international and multilateral forums.
In conclusion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen wished Ambassador Alexander Micovčin success in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
