(Stung Treng): Stung Treng Governor Sor Soputra said Cambodia’s giant stingray, known as “Boramy,” has drawn the attention of geography experts in the province.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (Mar. 17) during an interview on Stung Treng’s development, held in collaboration with the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) and led by CCJ President Puy Kea.

Captured on June 13, the stingray measured almost four metres (13 feet) from snout to tail and weighed slightly less than 300kg (660lbs), according to a statement by Wonders of the Mekong, a joint Cambodian-US research project.

The giant stingray was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2023 as the world’s largest freshwater fish.
