(Phnom Penh): The Embassy of India organised a program on 13 March 2026 to send off 15 officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications who will be participating in AI-related specialised training under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation(ITEC) programme.
The 15 officials who are divided into two groups will attend certificate courses at the prestigious Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Delhi, namely Certificate Course in Data Analytics Using Python and Certificate Course in Applied Machine Learning, respectively.
While the Data Analytics course is designed to equip participants with practical expertise in Python programming, data manipulation, visualisation, and real-world data science applications, the course on machine learning will deliver in-depth training in machine learning methodologies, project implementation, and emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
These curated programs are designed to empower the officials with cutting-edge technical skills, enabling them to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement This initiative not only underscores the importance of technical capacity building but also reaffirms the Government of India’s longstanding commitment to supporting Cambodia’s development through knowledge sharing and skill enhancement of Cambodia’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure sector.
Ambassador of India Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, in his address to the participants, expressed strong support for the initiative and highlighted the critical role these training programs play in deepening bilateral cooperation between India and Cambodia.
He said that these courses will prove immensely valuable for these Cambodia’s young, bright minds, and by investing in their professional growth, we are not only strengthening individual capabilities but also building a stronger foundation for long-term collaboration and shared progress between our two nations.
The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme is India’s flagship bilateral initiative launched in 1964. Beyond capacity building, the programme also provide opportunity to share India’s experience, expertise and knowledge gained over the years.
Through ITEC, India has provided fully funded training opportunities to participants from more than 160 partner countries in diverse fields such as information technology, management, governance, renewable energy, and sustainable development, demonstrating India’s enduring dedication to sharing its developmental expertise. Each year, 300 ITEC slots have been allotted for Cambodia.
Till date, more than 3200 Cambodian nationals working in various ministries, departments, autonomous bodies, and NGOs have benefited from these training programmes in their respective fields of work.
