(Phnom Penh): TP Moral Group, developer of the Mekong Quay City satellite city project in Ariyaksat, has expressed support for the Build4People Project – Sustainable Housing for People and Enhancing the Quality of Urban Living, an initiative aimed at improving living standards in Phnom Penh.
Since 2020, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration has partnered with HafenCity University Hamburg, Germany, to implement the Build4People Project, which focuses on sustainable housing and enhancing the quality of urban life.
Speaking at the Build4People Project conference on March 13, Khun Sengpheng, Chief Executive Officer of TP Moral Group, said the company is committed to incorporating sustainability, livability, environmental responsibility, and high-quality public spaces into its development projects through its collaboration with Build4People.
He noted that these principles are essential for creating urban environments that benefit both current and future generations.
Sengpheng also expressed appreciation to the Phnom Penh Municipal Hall and the German Embassy for supporting the initiative, which promotes international cooperation and knowledge exchange. He added that TP Moral Group will continue to engage with Build4People and welcomes partnerships that share the vision of building sustainable, resilient, and people-centred cities.
He further said that research and urban planning work conducted by student groups has provided valuable insights for the development of Mekong Quay City, offering perspectives on how large-scale urban projects can better address environmental, social, and urban challenges.
At the same event, Seng Vannak, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh, stated that the Build4People Project aims to improve housing quality and overall living conditions for residents while promoting sustainable urban development in the capital.
The support will help strengthen the capacity of local authorities in urban planning and digital smart city systems, while also supporting research on sustainable and resilient urban development in Phnom Penh.
Upcoming activities will include the development of digital urban management assessment tools with CityLab Berlin and Dresden University, technical assistance in smart city and urban planning initiatives, and capacity-building programs for officials from the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, particularly the Phnom Penh Smart City Hub. The program will also organize stakeholder workshops, study visits for knowledge exchange, and the development of urban planning maps for areas of Phnom Penh that currently lack detailed plans.
In late 2024, TP Moral Group (TPMG) and Khun Sea Import & Export Group launched construction of the Mekong Quay City urban development project in Ariyaksat City, located along the eastern bank of the Mekong River. The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The project covers more than 200 hectares and is expected to play a key role in transforming Ariyaksat into a future smart city, while serving as a hub for economic activity, commerce, and modern residential living.
