(Phnom Penh): Kao Kim Hourn, ASEAN Secretary General, praised the remarkable achievements of Cambodia’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC), particularly the development of the VERIFY platform and the DG SuperApp, and expressed support for the ministry’s efforts to expand these platforms across ASEAN member states and partner countries.
His remarks were made on 4 March 2026 during a courtesy call and working discussion with Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, at the ministry.
During the meeting, the minister warmly welcomed the secretary general, who was in Cambodia to attend the ASEAN–Cambodia Business Summit 2026.
The minister also shared updates on Cambodia’s digital transformation efforts under the Royal Government, highlighting initiatives such as the successful organization of the Digital Government Forum 2025, the establishment of Community Technology Centres, digital human capital development, and the advancement of digital government platforms and applications, including VERIFY.GOV.KH and the DG SuperApp. The VERIFY platform has been recognized as a global digital public infrastructure and has drawn interest from several countries in the region for possible adoption.
Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn commended the ministry’s notable accomplishments, especially the development of VERIFY and the DG SuperApp, and supported the ministry’s initiative to diversify and expand these platforms to ASEAN countries and other friendly nations. He also underscored the importance of Community Technology Centres in promoting digital literacy at the grassroots level, where awareness of technology remains limited.
Both sides also discussed strengthening cooperation in digital technology within the ASEAN framework, including collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and the potential organization of an ASEAN Digital Technology Expo.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the ASEAN Secretariat.
