(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak said that the Cambodia Cyclo Association has received strong and continuous attention from Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen since 2018, including both financial assistance and moral encouragement for cyclo drivers dedicated to preserving this traditional profession.
On 1 March 2026, the Ministry of Tourism organized a cyclo ride from Phnom Penh to Stung Treng, Stung Treng Province, under the slogan “Giving Hope to Cambodian Cyclos.” The event celebrated the 2026 National Clean City Day and coincided with a tourism initiative jointly organized by the Stung Treng Provincial Administration and the Provincial Department of Tourism under the theme “Stung Treng – More than Rivers, More than Ordinary.”
The initiative showcased Stung Treng’s distinctive and diverse tourism potential while reinforcing continued institutional support for cyclo drivers and the association that represents them.
According to the minister, this remarkable event was organized to celebrate the 2026 National Clean City Day. He referenced a congratulatory message issued on 28 February 2026 by Prime Minister Hun Manet, which called on all sectors and levels of government, local authorities, residential communities, tourist destinations, and tourism operators across the Kingdom to prioritize cleanliness, aesthetics, service quality, and warm hospitality.
