(Banteay Meanchey): British Ambassador to Cambodia Dominic Williams reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s call for a peaceful resolution along the Cambodia–Thailand border following a field visit to Banteay Meanchey province on 23 February 2026.
Ambassador Dominic Williams joined fellow ambassadors and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to observe the situation on the ground. The delegation inspected areas where Thai military forces had reportedly installed barbed wire and placed shipping containers around land and residential properties.
He also visited safety centres for displaced civilians and met residents currently sheltering under temporary rubber tents at Wat Chansey and Wat Kandal.
“This is my second visit to Banteay Meanchey this February,” the ambassador wrote. “We visited safety centres for displaced persons and their homes in Prey Chan village, Chouk Chey village, and Boeung Trakuon village. I feel deep sympathy for the ordinary people affected.
“The United Kingdom will continue to call for a peaceful solution along the border. This is the only sustainable way for communities in both countries to rebuild their homes and livelihoods,” he added.
