(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and the United States explored ways to further strengthen cooperation, including enhanced defence collaboration and the resumption of joint military exercises, particularly the Angkor Sentinel exercise in late 2026 or early 2027, following high-level talks in Washington.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with US Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge A. Colby and Deputy National Security Advisor Andrew Collison Baker during his participation in the inaugural Board of Peace meeting on 19 February 2026 in Washington, D.C.
During the meetings, both sides also noted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, as evidenced by the recent visit of Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, to Cambodia; the visit of USS Cincinnati to Ream Naval Base; and the lifting of the US arms embargo on Cambodia.
