(Washington): On the morning of 20 February 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call and had a discussion with the Atlantic Council delegation led by General Jim Jones and Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, during his visit to Washington, D.C., to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.
During the meeting, the CEO of the Atlantic Council thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call and engage in discussions. He also conveyed his keen interest in gaining deeper insights into the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute, particularly its root causes, and the role of the United States in supporting peaceful solutions.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet briefed the delegation on the historical background and recent developments of the border situation, as well as Cambodia’s continued restraint and reliance on peaceful mechanisms. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving disputes through bilateral agreements, existing conventions and treaties, and international law.
Samdech Thipadei further underscored that the information shared reflected realities on the ground and requested the Atlantic Council’s support in helping disseminate accurate and factual information regarding the situation.
Both sides also explored potential avenues through which the Atlantic Council could contribute to promoting greater international understanding of the Cambodia–Thailand border issue.
