(Phnom Penh): On 2 February 2026, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn received a courtesy call by Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Cambodia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the meeting, the foreign minister warmly welcomed Ambassador Vivian Loss Sanmartin and congratulated her on her appointment as the first resident ambassador of Brazil to Cambodia, according to a readout seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Feb. 3).
Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn expressed his satisfaction with the positive momentum in the thriving bilateral relations between the two nations, highlighted by the opening of the respective Resident Embassies in each other’s capitals, the upward trend in two-way trade, and growing cooperation in tourism. He also looked forward to the fruitful outcomes of the second round of Bilateral Consultations, which will take place in Phnom Penh in March this year, during which additional areas of cooperation will be explored for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The Brazilian ambassador welcomed the positive trajectory in bilateral relations and reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, education, tourism, environment and agriculture.
In the meeting, both sides exchanged views on deepening Cambodia-Brazil ties and reaffirmed their commitments to continued mutual support at both bilateral and multilateral levels, with the shared objective of fostering prosperity and development for their peoples.
Cambodian foreign minister also took the opportunity to update the ambassador on the latest developments on the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and expressed appreciation to Brazil’s support and encouragement for the ceasefire and peace process.
