(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Cambodian Defence Spokeswoman, reported that the Secretariat meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) concluded without reaching consensus on the morning of 2 February 2026, at 11:50 a.m.
The meeting was held between Military Region 4 of Cambodia and Army Area 2 of Thailand at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Point of Entry in Anlong Veng District, under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) from both countries.
According to the spokeswoman, as both parties have yet to reached common ground, both parties agreed to return to their respective headquarters to continue exchanging documents and negotiating until a consensus is reached. This will be followed by a formal signing ceremony and a meeting between the 4th Military Region of Cambodia and the 2nd Army Area of Thailand.
The spokeswoman added that this special RBC meeting was conducted in the spirit of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), held on 27 December 2025. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fully implementing the results of that meeting, while continuing efforts to reduce border tensions and seeking practical cooperation to promote regional peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy.
