(Phnom Penh): On 28 January 2026, Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth met Flavio Bonetti, the newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to Cambodia, at the Ministry.
During the meeting, the minister warmly welcomed Flavio Bonetti on the occasion of his appointment and wished him success in fulfilling his mandate in Cambodia.
During the meeting, the minister briefed the UNESCO representative on the recent incursion by Thai military forces into Cambodia’s sovereignty, highlighting damage to civilian homes, public infrastructure, and ancient Khmer temples that form part of humanity’s shared cultural heritage.
In response, Flavio Bonetti expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and conveyed his deep concern over the reported destruction of ancient temples and residential areas affecting Cambodian communities.
Both sides also discussed digital human resource development, past cooperation, and the advancement of digital government platforms and applications, with particular focus on the Verify platform and the DG SuperApp.
Lastly, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening close cooperation between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and UNESCO.
