(Poipet, Banteay Meanchey): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, informed that the Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) concluded its three-day discussion on the morning of January 29, 2026, at 09:00 a.m.

The meeting, held at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint, brought together delegations from Cambodia’s 5th Military Region and Thailand’s 1st Army Area. The Cambodian delegation was led by Major General Sar Kimpak, Chief of the RBC Secretariat (Cambodia), while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Phittayakool Pothisuwan, Chairman of the RBC Secretariat (Thailand).

The spokeswoman noted that despite intensive deliberations, both parties have yet to reach a common ground. Consequently, both sides agreed to return to their respective headquarters to continue the exchange of documents and negotiations. A formal signing ceremony and the official meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Military Region Border Committee (RBC) will follow once a consensus is achieved.

This special RBC session was conducted in the spirit of the Joint Statement from the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), held on December 27, 2025. Both nations reaffirmed their firm commitment to fully implementing the results of that meeting, aiming to reduce border tensions and foster practical cooperation for regional peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy.

The RBC Secretariat meeting, which ran from 27-29 January 2026, was conducted under the direct observation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) from both Cambodia and Thailand.
