(Phnom Penh): Pre Rup Temple is drawing a growing wave of visitors, cementing its status as one of the standout attractions within the Angkor Archaeological Park. Located east of Srah Srang, the temple continues to captivate tourists, particularly those climbing to its upper terrace.
The elevated platform features five striking brick towers and a dominant central sanctuary, whose imposing form is especially dramatic when illuminated by the warm glow of sunlight.
Constructed in the 10th century during the reign of King Rajendravarman II, Pre Rup was built on a three-tiered platform and dedicated to Brahmanism. While the structure is predominantly made of brick, key architectural elements such as platforms, pillars, door frames, lintels, and enclosure walls were crafted from sandstone, reflecting the refined craftsmanship of the Angkor period.
With its distinctive architecture, historical significance, and scenic vantage point, Pre Rup Temple has become an increasingly popular highlight for visitors exploring Angkor.
