(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen congratulated Senator the Hon. Sue Lines, President of the Senate, Parliament of Australia, on the occasion of Australia Day 2026.

"On behalf of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and on my own behalf, I have the honour to extend to you, the Senate, and the friendly people of Australia my warmest felicitations and best wishes on the occasion of Australia Day 2026. This special celebration not only commemorates the pride and remarkable achievements of the Australian people from the nation’s founding to the present day but also reflects Australia’s significant role in promoting regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity," according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Friday (Jan. 23).

"I highly value the ever-growing friendship, solidarity, and partnership between our two countries, built upon a solid foundation of mutual trust, respect, understanding, and mutually beneficial cooperation. I am confident that, through our joint efforts, Cambodia and Australia will continue to work closely together to advance our Strategic Partnership for the tangible benefits of our two peoples.

I look forward to continuing our close cooperation with you to further strengthen the ties between our legislative bodies, both within the bilateral framework and through inter-parliamentary fora, in the best interests of our two nations and in support of global peace, security, stability, and prosperity."
