(Phnom Penh): On Tuesday (Jan. 20), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet issued a sub-decree formally establishing the National Research Foundation (NRF) as a public trust to accelerate Cambodia’s scientific research, technological advancement, and innovation capacity.

The NRF has been created as a dedicated legal and financial mechanism to manage resources drawn from the national budget, development partners, and other lawful sources. Its mandate is to support scientific research and innovation across public institutions, state research bodies, and partner organizations, while ensuring transparency, professional governance, and accountability in the use of funds.
