(Phnom Penh): Cambodia’s Siem Reap, home to the world-famous Angkor Archaeological Park, has been ranked 13th among the world’s top 25 cultural destinations in Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards.
The global travel platform released the rankings on Sunday (Jan. 18), placing Singapore first, followed by London, Krakow, and Paris. Tripadvisor praised Siem Reap as a “profound” cultural destination, highlighting the experience of witnessing Angkor’s ancient temples bathed in early morning light.
The review specifically noted that the vast ancient structures, including the 12th-century Angkor Thom royal city, remain the primary draw for international travelers seeking an immersive historical experience.
The annual rankings are determined through a comprehensive exercise that evaluates the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings collected over a 12-month period.
This recognition highlights the enduring global appeal of Cambodia's cultural heritage despite evolving travel trends.
According to the latest year-end report from Angkor Enterprise, the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1992, welcomed a total of 955,131 foreign visitors throughout 2025.
These arrivals generated more than US$44.7 million in ticket revenue, underscoring the site's critical role as the primary economic engine for Cambodia’s tourism sector.
