(Phnom Penh): On 16 January 2026 Cambodian Ministry of National Defence warmly welcomed Singapore for dispatching two military officers to join the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by Malaysia, to monitor the Cambodia–Thailand border situation following the ceasefire.
The two officers, Major Li Yiming and First Warrant Officer Toh Wee Chiang, arrived at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport to take part in observing, verifying, and reporting on developments along the border in support of ceasefire implementation.
Cambodia reaffirmed its full support for the AOT and stressed the importance of strengthening its role and mandate to ensure transparency, accountability, and mutual trust.
The Royal Government of Cambodia reiterated its firm and sincere commitment to fully implementing the Joint Statement of the Third Special Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement of October 26, 2025, and all related agreements, with the goal of restoring normalcy and ensuring lasting peace and stability along the border.
