(Phnom Penh): On 15 January 2026, Khmer Enterprise (KE) and Maybank Cambodia formally entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen support for SMEs in Cambodia, reinforcing their shared commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth nationwide.
The MoU was signed at Maybank Tower by H.E. Dr. Chhieng Vanmunin, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Chief Executive Officer of Khmer Enterprise, and Mr. Rath Sophoan, Chief Executive Officer and Country Head of Maybank Cambodia.
The partnership brings together Khmer Enterprise and Maybank Cambodia to promote a stronger and more sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs across Cambodia. Through this collaboration, both organisations will work closely to enhance access to financing, strengthen business capabilities, and improve overall business and financial readiness among SMEs at different stages of growth.
Echoing this commitment to ecosystem development, H.E. Dr. Chhieng Vanmunin highlighted that the partnership represents a significant step forward for Cambodia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This collaboration will enhance and expand support for SMEs by improving their access to financing.
Khmer Enterprise also calls on other commercial banks to support RGC’s policies by promoting improved access to finance, streamlining procedures, and offering more favorable financing terms, thereby contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Rath Sophoan said the collaboration marks an important milestone in the Bank’s ongoing efforts to empower Cambodian enterprises. He added that the partnership reflects Maybank Cambodia’s commitment to delivering humanising financial services by supporting SMEs with relevant financial solutions, knowledge, and long-term partnerships to help them grow sustainably.
Under the partnership, Khmer Enterprise contributes to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem by promoting financial literacy, facilitating connections between SMEs and Maybank, and developing strategic programs tailored to the needs of SMEs to ensure they successfully acquire financial support, while Maybank Cambodia partners with Khmer Enterprise to enhance awareness of financial access for SMEs in Cambodia by imparting knowledge and best practices in financial management, building the readiness to utilize banking services, offering financing to support the establishment of new businesses, in accordance to the bank’s prevailing terms and conditions.
The partnership reflects Maybank Cambodia’s broader role as a trusted financial institution in Cambodia, leveraging Maybank Group’s ASEAN network alongside deep local understanding to deliver humanising financial services that combine practical financial solutions, regional insights, and relationship-led banking.
At the same time, the collaboration reinforces Khmer Enterprise’s mandate as the national platform for supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs, through capacity building, ecosystem development and facilitation of access to market and finance. Through this collaboration, both organisations underscore the importance of cross-sector cooperation in strengthening Cambodia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem creating an enabling environment where SMEs can better navigate business and financial challenges, enhance operational resilience, and access wider growth opportunities in an increasingly interconnected regional economy.
