(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, announced that the Secretariats of the Cambodia–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) convened a meeting on Thursday (Jan. 15) to reinforce the implementation of existing peace agreements and joint statements.

According to the press release seen by Fresh News, the meeting was held on the morning of January 15, 2026, at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Point of Entry, involving Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2. The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nit Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4, while the Thai side was headed by Major General Kampanat Waphansu, Chief of Staff of Army Area 2.

Both sides discussed key measures to strengthen the implementation of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting held on 27 December 2025, as well as other related agreements.

The ministry reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm and sincere commitment to fully respect and implement the GBC Joint Statement, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement signed on October 26, 2025, and all relevant documents, with the goal of achieving a peaceful, just, and lasting resolution in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements.
