(Phnom Penh): January 14 marks the anniversary of Hun Sen being endorsed by the People’s Assembly of the State of Cambodia in 1985 to serve as Chairman of the Council of Ministers, or Prime Minister.
Reflecting on the milestone, Samdech Techo recalled that he became the world’s youngest prime minister at the age of 32. Prior to that, he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in January 1979 at just 27, and later served as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in June 1981 at age 29.
Samdech Techo noted that his more than 44 years in government service, together with nearly three years as Senate President, amounting to over 47 years in leadership roles, have provided him with deep insight into almost every major issue facing Cambodia, as well as regional and global affairs.
