(Phnom Penh): On 13 January, 2026, China’s Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings Group Co., Ltd. (GIIHG) has officially designated Cambodia as its central manufacturing base for the ASEAN region, marking the strategic move with the launch of its first overseas automobile tire factory.

The new facility, operated by GIIHG subsidiary WANLI TIRE, is situated in the Xin Bavet Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng Province. Representing a significant investment of nearly USD 300 million, the highly automated plant was constructed in just one year. It has already commenced operations with an initial production capacity of six million tires annually, a figure expected to double to 12 million units by the end of 2026.

Beyond its immediate output, the factory has created more than 600 jobs and is poised to serve as a critical strategic hub for production, supply, and distribution to global markets.

Speaking on the group's expansion, GIIHG Chairman Jing Guangjun confirmed that Cambodia will anchor the conglomerate's presence in Southeast Asia.

He noted that the base will support research, manufacturing, and services reaching more than 160 markets worldwide. Cambodian officials welcomed the development, citing the rapid project completion and substantial investment as evidence of strong investor confidence, robust regional market access, and the Kingdom's policy stability.
