(Banteay Meanchey): On 10 January 2026, Banteay Meanchey Governor Oum Reatrey coordinated the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to inspect damage caused by a second reported incursion by Thai forces into Cambodian sovereign territory.

The visit focused on the Boeung Trakuon area, which endured 21 days of intense artillery shelling. The clashes resulted in extensive destruction of homes, infrastructure, and civilian property. Local authorities reported that Thai forces had installed shipping containers and barbed-wire fencing to occupy land and residential areas belonging to Cambodian citizens.

Governor Reatrey also coordinated a joint visit with a Ministry of National Defence working group and ASEAN observers to a displacement site in Thmar Puok district. The delegation assessed living conditions for more than 1,000 displaced families currently sheltering in temporary facilities.

According to officials, the families were forced to flee after their homes were destroyed or seized by Thai military forces through the use of containment barriers and barbed wire.
