(Phnom Penh): Trade between Cambodia and the European Union nearly reached USD 6 billion in 2025, marking an increase of 10.20 per cent compared to the same period in 2024, according to the report seen by Fresh News on Friday (Jan. 9).
The report shows that total Cambodia–EU trade stood at USD 5.8 billion during the 12 months of 2025, up from USD 5.3 billion a year earlier. Cambodia’s exports to the EU remained strong at approximately USD 5 billion, rising 13.55 percent, while imports from the EU declined by 5.88 percent to more than USD 863 million.
Speaking at the 2025 Trade Performance Review and the Launch of the 2026 Trade Action Plan of the Ministry of Commerce on 8 January 2026, Pen Sovicheat, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, said both sides acknowledged the positive trade momentum following the 12th Meeting of the Sub-Group on Trade and Investment (SGTI), supported by the EU’s preferential tariff system.
He noted that the discussions also covered additional measures related to Cambodia’s bicycle industry, the EU’s preferential tariff schemes, investment climate improvements, market access, technical assistance for trade sector development, and progress in regional trade.
Outstanding issues will be addressed at the 13th SGTI meeting in 2026, with key topics including tax system transparency, solar energy installation and use, environmental impact assessment consultancy services, and vehicle safety standards and import compliance.
