(Phnom Penh): Mane Group (Kingdom of Cambodia) and Lao Pharmaceutical & Allied Group (LAPG) (Lao PDR) officially signed a 50/50 Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) on 5 January 2026 to establish PHANNTHAMIT, a new pharmaceutical and healthcare distribution company in Cambodia.
The signing marks an important milestone in strengthening Cambodia–Laos private sector
cooperation and supporting Cambodia’s healthcare ecosystem through a long-term partnership focused on trusted supply, regulatory compliance, and nationwide access to quality medicines.
The Joint Venture Agreement signing ceremony was held in Phnom Penh and witnessed by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Department of Drugs and Food (DDF), Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the President of the Pharmacy Association of Cambodia, reflecting the importance of compliance, professional standards, and responsible development of Cambodia’s pharmaceutical market.
PHANNTHAMIT is being established as a strategic Cambodia–Laos joint venture with the mission to improve access to safe, high-quality, and affordable medicines, serving all 25 provinces of Cambodia and Phnom Penh Capital. The company is expected to begin operations in March–April 2026, following completion of key regulatory preparation including product registration, packaging redesign, barcode compliance, and bilingual patient information leaflets.
A Strong Manufacturing and Technology Partner
LAPG is recognized as one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the region, equipped with modern pharmaceutical technology from Germany and operating through a joint venture partnership with Canada, aligned with international quality standards. LAPG has invested approximately USD 150 million across four pharmaceutical factories, supporting large-scale production capacity, advanced systems, and quality assurance.
The joint venture combines Mane Group’s strong infrastructure, distribution capability, and regulatory network in Cambodia with LAPG’s manufacturing expertise, product supply capacity, and technical knowledge. PHANNTHAMIT will initially focus on essential generics and hospital medicines, supported by structured quality assurance, documentation, and compliance systems.
Long-Term Expansion Vision: Factory, Stem Cell Clinic & International Hospital
As part of the long-term strategic roadmap, Mane Group and LAPG also agreed to explore and prepare for the establishment of PHANNTHAMIT Pharmaceutical Factory in Cambodia within the next few years, subject to feasibility studies, regulatory requirements, and investment planning. In addition, both parties share a forward-looking vision to develop a PHANNTHAMIT stem cell clinic and an international hospital to support Cambodia’s growing demand for advanced healthcare services.
Building a Local Brand for ASEAN Expansion
PHANNTHAMIT will adopt a pharmacy-first distribution model, serving retail pharmacies and pharmacy chains as its core channel, while also expanding into hospitals and clinics through professional service-level delivery and institutional documentation standards.
The joint venture partners also agreed to position PHANNTHAMIT as a Cambodian-based local brand with ASEAN ambitions, with plans to expand the market reach in the region in the coming years, leveraging strong compliance systems, reliable supply, and trusted branding.
A representative of Mane Group said, “We are proud to form this strategic 50/50 joint venture with LAPG. PHANNTHAMIT will be built on a foundation of trust, compliance, and long-term partnership to support Cambodia’s healthcare system and ensure reliable access to quality medicines nationwide.”
A representative of LAPG stated, “This joint venture reflects our commitment to long-term cooperation with Cambodia. PHANNTHAMIT will deliver trusted medicines supported by international manufacturing standards, stable supply, and professional distribution systems.”
PHANNTHAMIT will work closely with the relevant Cambodian authorities to ensure all products and operations meet national regulatory requirements and contribute positively to public health priorities.
