(Phnom Penh): At China’s initiative, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn participated in a trilateral meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Yunnan Province on Monday morning (Dec. 29) to discuss the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The meeting aimed to facilitate constructive and candid exchanges of views on the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand, with the objective of strengthening mutual trust, promoting de-escalation, and restoring peace, security, and stability along the Cambodia–Thailand border, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated 27 December 2025.
Prior to the trilateral meeting, the Cambodian Foreign Minister also held a bilateral discussion with Wang Yi to further strengthen cooperation and the strong partnership between Cambodia and China, which contributes to peace, security, stability, and development in the region and globally.
Cambodia highly appreciated China’s role as host, for providing a platform for dialogue and for supporting efforts to enhance mutual understanding, as well as for regional peace and stability. Cambodia also reaffirmed its firm position in resolving all disputes and conflicts through peaceful means, dialogue, and diplomatic channels, in accordance with international law, the United Nations Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
The trilateral meeting between Cambodia, Thailand, and China took place following Cambodia and Thailand’s agreement on an immediate ceasefire, effective from 12:00 noon on 27 December 2025.
