(Phnom Penh): The State Secretariat of Border Affairs (SSBA) announced that pursuant to the Agreed Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) dated 22 October 2025 in Chanthaburi, Thailand, and the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) dated 27 December 2025 at Prum International Point of Entry (Pailin, Cambodia) – Ban Pak Kard (Chanthaburi, Thailand), the Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary – JBC (Cambodian Side) has sent a diplomatic note to the Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary – JBC (Thai Side) proposing to convene an urgent and special meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary – JBC during the first week of January 2026 in Siem Reap, in order to discuss and continue survey and demarcation work as follows:

1. To resume the work progress of survey and the emplacement of temporary markers on the terrain in the segment between Boundary Pillars No. 42–47, located in the areas of Chouk Chey Village and Prey Chan Village, O Bei Chorn Commune, O Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, and in the segment between Boundary Pillars No. 52–59, located in Boeng Reang Commune and Kam Rieng Commune, Kam Rieng District, Battambang Province.

2. To discuss on the survey and the emplacement of temporary markers on the terrain in the segments between Boundary Pillars No. 33–37 (Boeung Trakuon area), Thmor Da International Point of Entry (Thmor Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province), the O Phluk Domrei border area (Thmor Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province), the Chor I border area (Thmor Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province), and other border areas.

3. To dispatch Joint Survey Teams to carry out survey and demarcation works on the terrain in the segment between the agreed exact locations of the Boundary Pillars (the stream and straight boundary line), in accordance with the spirit of the Agreed Minutes of the 6th Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) dated 15 June 2025 in Phnom Penh.

On this occasion, the State Secretariat of Border Affairs reaffirms to compatriots and the general public that the JBC (Cambodian Side) firmly upholds its position in safeguarding the Cambodia–Thailand International Boundary as inherited from the Commissions of Delimitation of the Boundary between Indo-China and Siam, in full respect of international law, the principle of intangibility of frontiers (Uti possidetis juris), the Franco–Siamese conventions and treaties, the maps and the procès-verbaux of the Commission of the Abornment of the Boundary between Indo-China and Siam, as well as all relevant agreements and documents mutually agreed upon by both parties. In this regard, the JBC (Cambodian Side) will continue to conduct land surveying and boundary demarcation works with the JBC (Thai Side), at the earliest, with a view to achieving lasting peace along the border, and will not recognize any alteration of the boundary line resulting from the use of force.
