(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) issued a strong statement condemning Thailand’s aggressive war and repeated military violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty, particularly along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
“The leadership and civil servants at all levels of the ministry utterly condemn the inhumane, brutal, and aggressive acts committed by the Thai military, which constitute a war of aggression against the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Cambodia, particularly the ongoing launch of armed attacks against innocent civilians in provinces along the Cambodia-Thailand border since the afternoon of 7 December 2025.,” according the statement dated 24 December 2025.
“Thailand's war of aggression, involving the indiscriminate use of a wide range of weapons, has caused injuries to Cambodian civilians, the destruction of numerous homes, and the forced displacement of students, children, and elderly persons, who have been compelled to seek refuge in displacement camps,” the statement said.
The ministry added that these actions represent repeated and serious violations of the Ceasefire Agreement and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Deal between Cambodia and Thailand, signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries and witnessed by Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and the rotating Chair of ASEAN for 2025.
In its statement, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training appeal to the international community to firmly condemn Thailand's repeated violations of the Joint Declaration on the Peace Deal and its unlawful actions, to demand Thailand's full accountability for these grave breaches, and to urge Thailand to immediately cease all hostile acts that threaten peace and stability in the region.
At the same time, the ministry also strongly urge Thailand to fully, genuinely, and faithfully comply with the Ceasefire Agreement, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Deal, and all obligations under international law, to adhere to the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law and existing treaties, conventions, and agreements; and to refrain from the use of armed forces, with a view to achieving a just, lawful, and long-lasting solution consistent with international law.
