(Phnom Penh): Thai military forces, on Wednesday (24 Dec. 2025) continued their armed violations of Cambodian sovereign territory, launching a series of attacks on civilian residential areas across several provinces, Cambodian Ministry of National Defense reported.

The incidents occurred in the 4th and 5th Military Regions, affecting Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Battambang provinces, resulting in damage to civilian property and injuries to innocent residents.

In Oddar Meanchey Province, within the 4th Military Region, Thai forces opened fire in O’Smach area, Samrong Municipality. At 5:05 a.m., Thai military units fired 12.7mm tank- and armored vehicle-mounted guns into privately owned civilian buildings in the O’Smach residential area.

In Banteay Meanchey Province, within the 5th Military Region, further shelling was reported in multiple locations. At 9:12 a.m., Thai military forces fired two shells into densely populated civilian areas in Poipet Municipality. One shell landed near the 58 Roundabout, while another struck Nimitt District, causing panic among residents. At 9:40 a.m., Thai forces fired one shell into a civilian residential area in Kon Trie village, O’Chrov District, near National Road No. 5. The attack resulted in injuries to two innocent civilians.

The situation further escalated in Battambang Province. At 10:00 a.m., Thai military forces reportedly deployed T-50 fighter jets, dropping four bombs into a civilian residential area in Banan District, deeper inside Cambodian sovereign territory, where civilians were residing.

Cambodian authorities strongly condemned these actions, describing them as indiscriminate attacks against civilians and a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

“The Cambodian armed forces continue to closely monitor the situation and remain vigilant in fulfilling their duties to protect the territorial integrity of Cambodia,” the statement said.

The authorities reaffirmed that Cambodia will defend its dignity with courage and unwavering resolve, without yielding to coercion or intimidation in any form.
