(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra said that through extensive coverage by major international media outlets, Cambodia has successfully conveyed the truth to the world regarding Thai military attacks against Cambodian territory, despite Cambodia’s continued restraint and adherence to the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement signed on 26 October 2025.
In a message posted on his social media on Thursday (Dec. 18), the minister noted that global media organizations, including CNN, Associated Press, and Agence France-Presse, along with many other international outlets, have reported on Thailand’s military actions, enabling the international community to hear Cambodia’s voice directly.
The minister said Cambodia has firmly rejected all accusations and misinformation disseminated by the Thai side, stressing that the international community has carefully assessed developments on the ground by examining official statements alongside available evidence before forming conclusions.
“All of us are making every effort to present the truth to the world regarding the Thai military’s violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the use of disproportionate weaponry in its aggressive attacks against Cambodia,” the minister underscored.
He added that the Associated Press has played a significant role in conveying facts from Cambodia to the global audience, including reports on Thai military airstrikes deep inside Cambodian territory near refugee camps, as well as other incidents arising from Thailand’s ongoing aggression.
According to the minister, such reporting demonstrates that Thailand can no longer mislead the international community, as the reality on the ground has become increasingly clear. “The truth must be spoken to the world,” he said.
Minister Neth Pheaktra added that “fire cannot be wrapped in paper.” Agence France-Presse (AFP) has widely disseminated reports related to the Thai military’s acts of aggression against Cambodia.
He pointed out that during airstrikes carried out deep inside Cambodian territory, AFP reported that Cambodian officials described the incident as the first time Thai forces had launched attacks beyond disputed border areas, dropping bombs near refugee camps sheltering innocent civilians. As a result, refugees in the affected areas have begun fleeing further to seek safety from heavy weaponry and F-16 airstrikes carried out by the Thai military.
