(Banteay Meanchey): The war caused by the Thai military’s invasion of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity has resulted in severe damage to numerous homes of civilians, schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges.
In the battlefield area of Banteay Meanchey Province, Ou Beichoan Commune, Ou Chrov District, many Cambodian civilian houses in Prey Chan Village, Chok Chhay Village, and the Ou Beichoan commune urban center were also destroyed by the heavy shelling of the invading Thai forces.
On Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 16), while the sounds of artillery fire on the battlefield had not yet subsided, Fresh News reporters entered Ou Beichoan Commune to document the damage at Ou Beichoan School and many civilian homes in the commune’s urban area, which were damaged by heavy artillery shells fired by the Thai military.
The urban area is located only about five kilometers from the intense battlefield of Prey Chan Village and Chouk Chhay Village. At around 2:00 p.m., while filming, reporters could still hear the sounds of artillery shelling from the battlefield.
