(Banteay Meanchey): Cambodian female soldier Mut Saveun, 4 months pregnant, was killed on 10 December 2025 while serving on the frontline in Boeung Trakuon amid the ongoing Thailand–Cambodia border conflict.

On 11 December 2025, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs issued a statement mourning the loss of the courageous officer and praising her ultimate sacrifice in defence of Cambodia’s territorial integrity.

Saveun, 43, served with honour in Military Region 5 of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, stationed at Boeung Trakuon in Thma Puok district of Banteay Meanchey province. Her death has been widely described as a heartbreaking loss not only for her family but for the entire nation.

Born into a military family, Saveun devoted her life to national service and left behind one daughter, who is currently in her second year studying English literature.

According to local authorities and academic institutions, Saveun’s body is being kept at the family residence in Chheu Teal commune, Banan district, Battambang province, where traditional funeral rites are underway. Community members, officials, and fellow soldiers are visiting the family home to pay their final respects and honour her sacrifice.
