(Phnom Penh): Cambodia is collecting evidence to file a case with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, in response to Thailand’s armed aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

A senior government official told Fresh News on Wednesday (Dec. 10).

The senior official underlined that Thailand’s aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity have caused severe destruction and heavy civilian casualties, with Thai forces using all types of heavy weapons, including fighter jets that dropped bombs on civilian areas inside Cambodian territory.

“As of 10 December, nine civilians, including one infant, have been killed and 46 others injured. The continued assaults have also forced 37,115 families, totalling 127,133 people, to flee their homes in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat and Battambang provinces. Among the displaced are 58,603 women and 21,974 children,” he added.

The senior official continued, “Cambodia, as a State Party to the ICC, is compiling evidence to file a case with the ICC.”
