(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ministry of National Defense confirmed that two consecutive days of Thai military attacks have killed 7 Cambodian civilians and injured 20 others.

According to Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the ministry, preliminary reports from local authorities show that Thai forces began shelling civilian areas on December 8 and continued into December 9. As of 6:00 a.m. today, the casualty count stands at 7 dead and 20 wounded.

The ministry condemned the strikes as brutal and inhumane acts, declaring them blatant violations of both the ceasefire and the Joint Statement on the Cambodia–Thailand Peace Agreement signed on 26 October 2025, under the witness of U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, ASEAN’s rotating chair.
