(Pursat): New images from Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, reveal smoke billowing over casino buildings after the Thai military fired heavy artillery into Cambodian territory on Tuesday morning (Dec 9).

Earlier this morning, the Ministry of National Defence issued an update on escalating tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, confirming renewed Thai attacks that violate Cambodian sovereignty in Military Region 5.

According to the Ministry, Thai forces conducted continuous overnight assaults. From 4:58 a.m. to 5:25 a.m., the Thai military deployed large drones to conduct surveillance over Phnom Trangoal area, followed by the firing of toxic smoke targeting the zone. From 5:30 a.m. to 6:10 a.m., Thai troops escalated the assault by firing 105mm artillery shells into the O’Phluk Domrei area.

As of the time of reporting, Thai military activity was still ongoing.
