(Phnom Penh): The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia issued a strong condemnation of Thailand’s war of aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty, expressing its profound sorrow and strongest denunciation of Thailand’s armed attacks on Cambodian territory.

In a statement seen by Fresh News on Monday (Dec. 8), the National Assembly said that Thailand launched attacks using F-16 fighter jets, heavy weapons, and toxic gas on Cambodia on 7 and 8 December 2025 in multiple locations, particularly in the provinces of Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Preah Vihear. The attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of a number of civilians, as well as extensive damage to both public and private property.

The National Assembly stated that Thailand’s war of aggression constitutes not only a serious violation of the Joint Declaration on the Cambodia–Thailand Peace Agreement dated 26 October 2025, signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand under the witness of U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister and ASEAN Chair Anwar Ibrahim, but also represents grave breaches of the ASEAN Charter, the UN Charter, and international law. The statement stressed that these violations have severely affected regional and global peace, the international order, human rights, and the livelihoods of civilians.

Despite being subjected to such attacks, Cambodia, the National Assembly emphasized, has continued to uphold the principles of restraint, peace, peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for agreed agreements, and adherence to international law, the ASEAN Charter, and the UN Charter, and has not carried out any retaliatory military action against Thailand.

The National Assembly called on Thailand to immediately cease all hostile acts that threaten the peace and stability of both countries and urged Thailand to strictly, sincerely, and responsibly comply with the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement and all obligations under international law, in order to restore peace and normalize bilateral relations as a foundation for regional and global peace.

The Cambodian legislature further appealed to the international community, particularly ASEAN, to strongly condemn Thailand’s aggressive violations and to demand that Thailand bear full responsibility for its actions.

The National Assembly also reaffirmed its full support for the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, and Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and Founder of Peace in Cambodia. It commended their firm commitment to strictly observing and implementing the terms of the Ceasefire Agreement, the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as all bilateral agreements, with the highest sense of goodwill and responsibility.

Finally, the National Assembly called upon all Cambodians from all walks of life to remain united in solidarity to strengthen national resilience and stand firmly against foreign aggression.
