(Prey Veng): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that as the world, the region, and Cambodia have been and continue to be surrounded by high levels of risks and uncertainties, Cambodia must place strong emphasis on developing human capital as well as strengthening governance and institutional capacity.

The premier spoke on Monday (Dec. 8) during the inauguration ceremony of the Meun Chey–Tennam International Border Gate in Prey Veng province.

Amid rising geopolitical tensions, economic competition, protectionist trends, and the lingering impact of climate change and natural disasters, Cambodia must focus on developing skilled human resources and effective institutions, the premier said. This is vital to build a clean, smart, and capable public administration that safeguards the nation, addresses social challenges, and drives resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth, he continued.

PM Hun Manet reaffirmed the government’s commitment to turning challenges into opportunities and border regions into zones of development and cooperation across political, economic, social, and cultural sectors.

The prime minister described the inauguration of the Meun Chey–Tennam International Border Gate as another historic milestone in strengthening Cambodia–Viet Nam relations and transforming border areas into “zones of opportunity” for both nations.
