(Hanoi): The Universal Youth Leadership Summit (UYLS) convened in Hanoi, bringing together young leaders from around the world for capacity-building activities focused on global citizenship, leadership, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.
The four-day summit, held at the Sen Grand Hotel and Spa, engaged participants in public speaking, debating, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership-focused workshops. Delegates explored themes such as cultural intelligence and remote leadership through panel discussions, simulation exercises, and collaborative tasks.
Among the fully funded delegates was Ra Meng from Cambodia, who shared her reflections on the event.
Day 1: Opening Ceremony and Leadership Workshop
Delegates arrived throughout the day and received their summit kits before gathering for the official opening. Committee members introduced the Universal Youth Movement (UYM) team, followed by an inspiring address from UYM Director Shereen Shamala, who outlined the summit’s vision and objectives.
Professors from universities in Malaysia and Vietnam delivered expert insights during the first-panel discussion, which centred on remote leadership. Delegates later participated in ice-breaker games and group tasks designed to promote interaction and idea exchange before concluding the day with a briefing on the next session’s schedule.
Day 2: Team-Building Activities and Global Citizenship Dialogue
Day 2 began with a team-building challenge, where groups explored nearby areas to identify symbols of Vietnamese culture. Delegates worked together to document their findings while engaging with local residents.
The afternoon session featured group presentations from Day 1 and a panel discussion on global citizenship, cultural intelligence, and the role of young people in an interconnected world. Speakers also touched on artificial intelligence, highlighting its impacts and responsible use. A certificate presentation ceremony followed.
Day 3: Cultural Showcase and Awarding Ceremony
The final day highlighted cultural diversity, with delegates wearing traditional attire and sharing their heritage through performances, games, and short documentaries. Various recognitions were awarded, including Best Delegate, Best Speaker, Outstanding Performance, and Leadership Excellence.
Delegates also exchanged souvenirs representing their countries before concluding with a group photo session.
Lastly, Ra Meng expressed her gratitude to the Universal Youth Movement’s leadership and committee members for organising a summit that fostered international understanding and meaningful connections. She encouraged more Cambodian youth to join future editions, noting that the programme provides significant opportunities for personal development, global exposure, and leadership growth.
