(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Minister of Interior Sar Sokha announced the successful dismantling of an online scam operation in Phnom Penh, reaffirming Cambodia’s strong commitment to combating cybercrime in close cooperation with international partners.

The minister wrote on his social media on 6 December 2025.

According to the minister, the operation serves as “another new piece of evidence” demonstrating the determination of Cambodian joint authorities, guided by the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, to stand “shoulder-to-shoulder” in the global fight against online fraud.

On 6 December, joint forces from the Security Plan, Immigration Plan, and Russey Keo District Police Inspection, acting under procedural coordination from a Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, raided a suspected scam centre located in Borey Piphup Thmey along National Road 5.

Authorities arrested seven Korean nationals (including two women) and two Cambodian nationals who were working as drivers. Confiscated equipment included six laptop computers, four all-in-one desktops, six monitors, and eight iPads. The seized devices are now undergoing examination and preliminary forensic analysis to identify evidence of criminal activity.

The minister emphasised that online scam operations are “new, complex, interconnected offences” driven by organised networks and masterminds operating across multiple countries. He stressed that effective suppression requires not only vigilance from Cambodian authorities but also professional information-sharing with law enforcement agencies worldwide.

He reaffirmed that the Royal Government, under both previous and current mandates, has enforced strict policies to prevent and combat all forms of crime, traditional and emerging alike, to uphold the rule of law domestically and help protect people of all nationalities from global criminal activities.
