(Sihanoukville): “Considering the large presence of the Indonesian community in Sihanoukville, let us find ways to strengthen mutually beneficial business cooperation”, said Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, Indonesia's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the opening of the Indonesia-Sihanoukville Business Meeting, held today in Sihanoukville.
Organized by the Embassy of Indonesia in Phnom Penh, the business meeting was attended by members of the Federation of Associations of the SMEs (FASMEC) Sihanoukville. It was aimed at encouraging exchanges of ideas between the Embassy and Cambodian business communities following FASMEC Sihanoukville's participation at Trade Expo Indonesia 2025 last October.
The meeting explored areas of potential business cooperation, especially for Indonesian enterprises seeking to expand their operations in Sihanoukville. The Cambodian side expressed their commitment to assist and facilitate Indonesian investment in fields such as health, education, construction, real estate, dan finance.
Oknha Vann Sokheng, the President of FASMEC Sihanoukville welcomed the initiative by the Indonesian Embassy to boost two-way business interactions. “We highly appreciate Indonesia’s contribution towards the mutually beneficial growth of Sihanoukville's economic sector. This is important in the overall effort to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation,” Oknha Sokheng further added.
Ambassador Santo suggested that concrete activities be developed to intensify interactions among businesspeople in the two countries. He highlighted the growing demand for Indonesian products as well as services, including health, in Cambodia. In 2024, the Embassy organized a Health Fest in Sihanoukville, aimed at promoting Indonesian health products and services to the local public.
The meeting also heard from experts on the current Cambodian investment climate, especially in relations to trends and regulations and trends in the banking, healthcare, and real estate sectors.
In January–October 2025, Indonesian trade volume with Cambodia stands at USD889.2 million. This year, the Embassy has carried out various activities to promote business interactions and economic cooperation between the two countries.
