(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen affirmed that no Cambodian soldiers have died on Thai territory because Cambodian forces have never crossed into Thailand. Any casualties found on Thai soil, he stressed, are Thai soldiers.

Samdech Techo spoke on Monday (Nov. 17) during the 33rd National Congress of Buddhist Monks at the National Institute of Education.

“Some people are spreading rumours claiming Cambodian soldiers have died on foreign land. Let me be clear: Cambodian soldiers have not entered Thai territory. I hope Thai citizens can find their missing loved ones,” Samdech Techo underscored.

He also cautioned against provocative rhetoric. “Remember, I am a soldier and have fought in battles. If you are not a hardened soldier, do not provoke too much. They have guns, and we have guns too,” he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated that each country is responsible for casualties within its own territory. Cambodia, he said, has neither lost soldiers nor stepped onto the other side’s land.
