(Banteay Meanchey): As of Saturday (Nov.15), the situation in Prey Chan and Chork Chey villages remains calm, with no new developments.

Although there have been no new incidents, security readiness remains high. In Prey Chan, residents have been fully evacuated following the Thai soldiers’ shooting attack on villagers on 12 November. Meanwhile, in Chork Chey, more residents have also left the village.

Despite the evacuation of locals from both villages, military and police forces continue to maintain patrols in the area without carrying weapons.

Residents continue to support the patience shown by the government and security forces, and they encourage ongoing peaceful negotiations to avoid any armed confrontation.
