(Phnom Penh): Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodian Prime Minister, held a telephone discussion with Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, to discuss the developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, with the aim of continuing the implementation of peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.
Samdech Thipadei wrote on his social media on Saturday (Nov. 15) as follows:
“Last night, 14 November 2025, I held a telephone discussion with Honourable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, to discuss the developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, with the aim of continuing the implementation of peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.
On behalf of Cambodian citizens, I expressed my sincere thanks to President Trump for his initiative which contribute to the establishment of a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as for achieving the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration to seek lasting peace for Cambodia and Thailand. I also reiterated Cambodia’s firm commitment to upholding the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration and expressed hope that both sides will continue to work together in line with the principles and bilateral mechanisms agreed upon.
President Trump emphasized his clear position that he wishes to see lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand. In this regard, the President will continue to closely monitor this matter to ensure that no armed clashes reoccur along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Cambodia continues to maintain its position of resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with the principles and mechanisms previously agreed upon, in order to resolve the Cambodia–Thailand border issue and build lasting peace between the two countries.”
