(Banteay Meanchey): Scenes and activities of local residents in Chork Chay Village, Ou Beichoan Commune, Ou Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, on Friday evening (Nov. 14). This village is located not far from the Thai border.
Chork Chey Village has more than 700 households. Since 12 August 2025, the area has been encroached upon by Thai soldiers, who attempted to occupy parts of the village land and some civilian homes.
After the incident on 12 November 2025, when Thai soldiers opened fire on Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan Village, some residents began evacuating from their homes. However, many others are still monitoring the situation and continue to live in their houses, carrying out their daily business activities as usual, without fleeing.
Despite escalating tensions, the residents of Chork Chey Village still hope that the Royal Government and the armed forces will exercise patience and continue negotiations with the Thai side to the fullest extent, avoiding any large-scale armed conflict. They believe that such a conflict would cause severe damage and greater suffering.
